Brief Bio
David Kaufman has presented more than 200 lectures and workshops at universities in North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East and South America. He has published extensively with more than 100 published articles and three books to his credit, serves as a reviewer for many journals, granting agencies and professional associations, and has received more than $4 million in funding. From 2001 to 2008, he served as Director, Learning & Instructional Development Centre at Simon Fraser University and currently is a Professor in the Faculty of Education. He and his colleagues currently hold SSHRC research grants to investigate digital games and digital storytelling for seniors,.

SCOPE

This special session will address the new area of digital games for older adults. The potential benefits and barriers will be discussed, and examples will be presented of research being conducted in this area.

Topics.
1. Issues faced by older adults
2. How technology is helping older adults
3. How digital games are helping older adults thus far
4. Description of a seven-year Canadian research project on digital games for older adults
5. Barriers and adaptations needed for this population
6. Description of process and outcomes of a Wii bowling research study with older adults
7. Description of the process and outcomes of three research studies completed recently and another currently being conducted
8. Other topics considered as relevant to the special session.

After each paper, there will be time for a discussion between the audience and the presenters.

Prospective authors are invited to submit papers in any of the topics listed above.

PUBLICATIONS

After thorough reviewing by the special session program committee, all accepted papers will be published in a special section of the conference proceedings book - under an ISBN reference and on digital support - and submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar, Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic.

All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library
